Transparency & editorial ethics

How we handle your information

1. Protecting sources

We don't publish the names of people who share information with us unless they agree. We never sell, rent or trade anyone's contact information.

2. Corroboration first

No tip is published as fact without corroborating records, public filings, official documents or other witnesses.

3. Right of response

People and businesses we report on get a fair chance to respond, correct the record or provide documents before we publish.

4. Who we name

We name a person only when they've been charged, convicted or publicly identified by an authority, and say "alleged" until a court decides. We don't publish private people's addresses or details that identify victims or sources.

How sure we are

Contested points carry a label: Confirmed by a court, an agency, a public record or the party itself; Reported by a named news outlet; or Unconfirmed when we have a single source.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it at the top of the report, with the date. We don't quietly edit facts. To report an error, write to press@valleysmostwanted.com, or use our form.
